AQHA Awards Celebration Changing This Year

The American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) has changed its annual awards celebration due to the ongoing global pandemic.

The Amarillo, Texas-based association announced that the 2020 AQHA Awards Celebration, presented by ProElite, will honor the 2019 year-end high-point winners with a special video that will premiere in November during the Farnam AQHA World Championship Show in Oklahoma City.

It made the change to protect the safety of attendees. For the past two years, winners were recognized during a celebration during the AQHA World Show at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

Officials say this year’s video will also be shared via Facebook Live on the association’s site on the social media platform. Award winners will have the opportunity to receive their award during the corresponding Level 3 class awards presentation during the Farnam AQHA World and will also be showcased on

Awards recipients have been contacted directly through email. The winners who will be recognized are the 2019 AQHA All-Around Amateur; AQHA All-Around Junior Horse; AQHA All-Around Senior Horse; Markel All-Around Youth 14-18; Markel All-Around Youth 13-&-Under; the top open, amateur and Equestrians With Disabilities year-end high-point winners; Justin Boots Intermediates of the Year; AQHA Exhibitor of the Year; Nutrena Don Burt AQHA Professional Horseman of the Year; Nutrena AQHA Professional Horsewoman of the Year; and Most Valuable Professional. Awards recipients who are attending the 2020 Farnam AQHA World and would like to receive their trophy at the show must RSVP by Oct. 16.
