Recent rule changes will make it easier to qualify for the 2021 NRCHA Celebration of Champions, the National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) announced.
The Pilot Point, Texas-based association announced its Board of Directors changed the World Championship qualification requirements for the 2020 show season. Although the show season will end on Nov. 15, 2020, as usual, officials say the “top twenty” and “in the same region” requirements will be waived for this year.
The association’s World championships will be held during the NRCHA Celebration of Champions, which is scheduled for Feb. 11-20, 2021, at Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
The NRCHA Celebration of Champions has a full slate of classes to crown champions for all levels, ranging from Open Bridle to Youth and Limited classes.
According to the NRCHA, here’s how to qualify for Open and Non-Pro classes:
- Compete at least three times in a given class in at least three NRCHA approved shows in any region
- Earn at least 1/2 point
- Be a finalist at the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) or American Paint Horse Association (APHA) World shows
There is no change on how to qualify for Youth classes:
- Compete at least three times in a given class in at least three NRCHA approved shows in any region
- Be a finalist at the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) or American Paint Horse Association (APHA) World shows
Officials say the NRCHA Regional, World and National standings will be awarded the same as previous years.
