Rookie riders at this year’s National Reining Breeders Classic (NRBC) will have a chance to win a horse (of sorts) in the event’s annual Yellowstone Rookie Shootout.
This headline event has traditionally featured innovative and fun prizes for the winner, from the first Yellowstone mini-Golf Cart to last year’s custom Yellowstone tack trunk — and this year is no different.
This year’s winner will take home a life-size fiberglass horse emblazoned with the name of Paramount Network’s hit Yellowstone television show. The show has regularly featured some of the top Western performance horse trainers in the industry, and its creator, Taylor Sheridan, also created the reining-themed reality series, The Last Cowboy, and The Run For A Million horse show.
All participants in this year’s Shootout at the NRBC take home a Skyline Silversmiths buckle and SmartPak halter. Prizes also include a Back On Track sheet.
The 2020 NRBC will kick off Aug. 26 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with the Toyon Ranch Emerging Horse Futurity. It will continue through Sunday, Sept. 6.
Yellowstone Rookie Shootout
The goal of the Yellowstone Rookie Shootout is for it to be a fun time with exceptional competition. It will be held Saturday, Sept. 5 prior to the NRBC Level 4 Open finals.
Riders will qualify for the Shootout in the two slates of rookie classes held earlier during the NRBC show. The top five composite scorers for those first two slates of Rookie competition will qualify for the Yellowstone Rookie Shootout (no additional entry fees).
The Yellowstone Shootout round will be held in the Ford Arena. The five participants will each receive prizes and the winner will take home that Paramount Network Yellowstone Horse.
