The 2020 Ranch Work Championships — which will take place in conjunction with the American Paint Horse Association’s 2020 World Championship Show in Fort Worth Sept. 18–Oct. 4 — will have $15,000 added to the total purse.
The APHA announced the event will take place late September/early October at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas, and will host some of the best ranch competitors and horses from across the country. Entries are expected to open early this month. Specific dates will be announced soon.
“2020 has been a difficult year for everyone, but we are excited to offer a ranch competition where every skill level can compete for big added money purses.” APHA’s Chief Marketing Officer Steven Hayes said in a statement.
First held in 2018, the Ranch Work Championships are an all-breed event where ranch competitors of all levels to come together and show off their working ranch skills. Classes are timed and based on authentic work done on a ranch, with the emphasis of efficient and proper cattle handling. The championships consist of three events – ranch course, ranch penning, and ranch roping.
The added money was sponsored by the Texas Paint Horse Breeders Association.
