Sanctus hit a high note at The Cattlemen’s.
With Rodrigo Taboga aboard, the 2016 stallion by High Brow Cat started the year with a win in the Abilene Spectacular 4-Year-Old Limited Open. He and Taboga did even better in The Cattlemen’s, winning the regular 4-Year-Old Open with a 223.
The horse, owned by Scott Durham, defeated a field at The Cattlemen’s that included NCHA Futurity Open Reserve Champion Twice in Santiago, $30,000-plus earner Tweezin My Brow and Tin Man, who set a public auction record when he sold for $500,000 in 2018.
Several horses that placed in the finals of last month’s Arbuckle Mountain Futurity also were back for a shot at the win in the 4-Year-Old Open finals at The Cattlemen’s.
Sanctus is a son of all-time leading NCHA sire High Brow Cat and out of Sofie Rey (by Dual Rey). He was bred by Jose Sigala, of Weatherford, Texas. He earned $22,000 for the win.
