On the final day of The Bonanza in Belton, Texas, Once In Love and Traci Shehady made a statement in the cutting pen as the 4-Year-Old Unlimited Amateur winners.
The mare, whom Shehady found great success as the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity Unlimited Amateur champion in December, seems ready to prove she’s not a one-hit wonder, scoring a 219 at The Bonanza. Once In Love, or “Moxie,” was sired by Once In A Blue Boon and out of Shehady’s prized mare Biscuit Love (LTE $58,622).
Together, the duo have won more than $26,000, steadily adding to Biscuit Love’s progeny earnings, which now near $140,000 with the help of two half-siblings, 2014 mare You Cant Buy Love (by Cats Gotta Diamond) and 2015 stallion A Groovy Kindof Love (by Auspicious Cat).
Tuff Catty Dual and Erin Russell of Fort Worth, Texas, were Reserve champions. Bred by Center Ranch of Centerville, Texas, the 2016 gelding is by Woody Be Tuff and out of ARC Catty Dual (by Dual Pep)
