What does it take for a stallion to build a name for himself? With the quantity of top-level sires available in the Western performance horse industry today, it’s not an easy feat. Still, the cream always seems to rise and quality genetics endure.
The Equi-Stat Five-Year Stallion Statistics were created to give credit where it is due among the leading sires in the industry. The Top 250 Sires chart stacks stallions with offspring earnings in cutting, reining and/or reined cow horse against each other with no limitations for the discipline in which their offspring compete. If a stallion has performers in more than one event, his offspring earnings are also broken down by discipline. The Top 100 charts for each of the three dis- ciplines follow those statistics.
Earnings for this statistical section were compiled by Equi-Stat and include earn- ings from the last five and one-half years — from Jan. 1, 2014, to Aug. 31, 2019. Any closed incentives not open to all stallions are excluded. Earnings attributed to a sire include money earned by clones of his off- spring. Similarly, money earned by the offspring of clones are included in the respective generation’s statistics.
