Snip O Gun, Princess In Diamonds Join $1 Million Producer Club

Distinguished producers Snip O Gun and Princess In Diamonds recently passed the $1 million mark in progeny earnings, ranking them among a small group of mares whose foals won more than a million dollars in reining.

The two mares both passed the million-dollar mark in produce earnings before the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Futurity, according to Equi-Stat, but two of Snip O Gun’s foals added to their mother’s record at the big event in Oklahoma City.

Snip O Gun

The 1993 mare was represented by Level 2 Non-Pro Reserve Champion Ships Shining Gun (by Colonels Shining Gun), who earned $37,031 with rider Jessicah Keller for owner Hilldale Farm; and Level 4 Open finalist Smoking Trash (by Gunnatrashya), who earned $17,256 with trainer Francesco Martinotti for owner Enjoy LLC.

Not including money won at the NRHA Futurity, Snip O Gun (One Gun x Miss Kim O Lena x Doc O Lena) is the mother of 20 earners with $1,007,476. She was bred by R.H. and R.H. Clements Jr., of Minor Hill, Texas, and is owned by Hilldale Farm.

Snip O Gun’s leading performers are Big Chex To Cash ($219,265, by Nu Chex To Cash); Inferno Sixty Six ($216,165, by Gunnatrashya); and Hot Smokin Chex ($189,574, by Nu Chex To Cash).

Princess In Diamonds

Another mare who recently achieved millionaire status is Princess In Diamonds. The late daughter of Shining Spark and Eyed Be A Princess (by Eyed Be Impressive) has an Equi-Statoffspring record of $1,009, 931.

Bred by Gay Owens of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Princess In Diamonds earned $77,003 in her reining career with performances that include a fourth-place finish in the 2001 NRHA Futurity with trainer Todd Crawford.

As a broodmare, Princess In Diamonds foaled 28 money-winners with average earnings of $48,092. Her leading earners are: NRHA Derby Open Co-Reserve Champion Whizkey N Diamonds ($224,020, by Topsail Whiz); National Reining Breeders Classic (NRBC) Derby Open Champion Cromed Out Mercedes ($147,021, by Custom Crome); and NRBC Levels 3, 2 and 1 Non-Pro Champion Surprizentheprincess ($143,021, by Jerry Lees Surprize).

Snip O Gun and Princess In Diamonds are both members of the NRHA Hall of Fame. They join fellow NRHA Hall of Famers Ebony Shines and Dun It For Chex as the only mares to foal the earners of more than $1 million in reining, according to Equi-Stat.
