Inferno Sixty Six Offspring Excel in NRHA Futurity Sales

The yearlings lit up Barn 3 at the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA)/Markel Futurity Sales in Oklahoma City Thursday evening. Two Inferno Sixty Six offspring started the three-day event off with a bang.

The hammer fell at $80,000 for Hip No. 1039, Inferno On Ice. Buyer Rick Christen placed the winning bid on the gray colt. Pro Fit Equine LLC, agent for Lotti Quarter Horses, consigned the highest seller.

Inferno On Ice is out of 2012 NRHA Futurity Limited Non-Pro Champion Unquestionably Crome, an earner of $62,521. Along with tying for sixth in the Futurity Non-Pro and finishing third in the Intermediate Non-Pro, she was a finalist in the Cowtown Classic Futurity Open. The mare, who reportedly has three performance-age offspring, is also a half-sister to Benz Smokin ($38,706, by Cromed Out Mercedes). Benz Smokin was the 2014 NRHA Futurity Limited Non-Pro Reserve Champion.

Two other yearlings out of Unquestionably Crome passed through the sale ring Dec. 5. Hip No. 1040, Unquestionably Ruff (by Not Ruf At All), brought $9,500; Hip No. 1100, Wannaflashya (by Gunnatrashya), sold for $18,000.

Second-Highest Seller

Comehellorhiwater came in as the second-highest seller. Janice Dickson signed a $70,000 ticket on the Sergio Elia-consigned son of 2015 NRHA Futurity Level 4 Open Reserve Champion Inferno Sixty Six. The bay colt is out of Berry Dun It Best (by Hollywood Dun It), a producer of around $130,000.

NRHA Derby Level 4 Open finalist Gunnafoolya ($79,043, by Gunnatrashya) and NRHA Futurity Open finalist Berry Best Step ($45,655, by Wimpys Little Step) are among the colt’s five performing half-siblings.

Third-Highest Seller

Hip No. 1094, Gunnin For Fri Dee, rounded out the top three on Thursday. The final bid landed at $66,000 for the palomino filly, consigned by Toyon Ranch. Daniel Bouchard purchased the Equi-Stat Elite $3 Million Sire Gunnatrashya daughter.

Dun It Fri Dee Nite (by Hollywood Dun It) is Gunnin For Fri Dee’s dam. She is the producer of 10 performance-age foals — seven money-earners. They are led by $35,275-earner Independencedayspook, a 2011 stallion by Smart Spook.
