Metallic Cat Continues To Climb Sire Ranks

Metallic Cat became an Equi-Stat Elite $20 Million Sire last year. About seven months later, the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity Open Champion has already hit another major milestone in the breeding shed.

Through March 25, the 2005 son of High Brow Cat had sired the earners of $25.32 million. He became the sport’s newest Equi-Stat Elite $25 Million Sire in the first months of 2019.

Owned by Bobby Patton’s Rocking P Ranch, the red roan out of Chers Shadow (by Peptoboonsmal) reached the Equi-Stat Elite $25 Million Sire milestone within seven years of his first foals hitting the pay window.

His first performers entered the show scene in 2013 and earned roughly $284,000.  That number has only continued to climb every year since then and, in 2018, the stallion had his most lucrative season with more than $6.9 million in earnings.

The stallion’s sons and daughters have included a number of champions in a number of disciplines and registries, such as the NCHA, American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) and National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA).
