Feiner Secures Nimble and Quick Victory at Breeder’s Invitational

When Jessica Feiner walked to the herd on B Nimble in the Breeder’s Invitational Classic/Challenge Limited Non-Pro finals on May 18, it was her second time to the herd. She had just ridden Tommy Mo to a 210, and the score to beat was a 219, marked by Carly Chiarelli and Olive Martini. Feiner had to refocus on “Nimble” to show him to his best.

“The game plan was just to try to cut clean because the cows seemed pretty fast, so they [my help] were just saying to try and cut slow and clean,” Feiner said. “If you get the opportunity to work longer and do more, do that, but the goal is always to just be clean. When I finished my run before, I just had to slow my adrenaline down and take a couple breaths.

“They’re both so different, but Wesley [Galyean] and Adan [Banuelos] kind of said to ride them the same,” she continued of her geldings. “They’re both different, but they’re both easy to ride.”

After marking a 219.5, Feiner and Nimble, by Dual Smart Rey, won the Championship and $4,757. They also banked $1,970 for the Gelding Championship. This was not their first major success, as the pair has the 2017 National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Super Stakes Classic Limited Non-Pro and NCHA Summer Spectacular Classic/Challenge Limited Non-Pro titles under their belts.

Feiner and the gelding, who was bred by Adrian Mortimer and is out of Dennys Freckle, are going to keep showing off his moves as much as they can the rest of the year.

“This is his last year in the aged events because he’s six, so [my plan is] just to show him as much as I can until he ages out. I think this will be my last year in the Limited, also,” Feiner explained.

She expressed her appreciation to everyone who helped steer her and Nimble toward success.

“I would love to thank my help – my brother, Adan, who’s had Nimble. He just does such a good job, and he and Nimble get along so great; Wesley Galyean was in my other corner, and he trains Tommy Mo, so having those two is like a dream; Lloyd [Cox] and Grant [Setnicka] are phenomenal help, so I’d just like to thank those four because obviously they’re great cow pickers. They have my back even when I don’t.

“I’d also like to thank Alexa Dahl,” Feiner continued. “She gets Nimble ready, and she has him down perfect every time. And then my mom and all the girls at Pro-Motion Equine Therapy and Spa; they spa him and work on him every day.”
