Giuseppe Prevosti leads the NRHA European Futurity Open Qualifier

An Italian is on top of the leaderboard after the Open Futurity qualifier of the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) European Futurity.

In a field of 104 horse-rider combinations, Giuseppe Prevosti posted a 223 in CremonaFiere arena to lead the Level 4 Open division riding Walla Golden Arrow, a mare by Equi-Stat Elite $1 Million Sire Walla Walla Whiz out of Nu Chucka (by Nu Chex To Cash).

“I got this stallion in training shortly after the 2017 Italian Reining Horse Association (IRHA) Futurity where he was ridden by [NRHA Professional] Pierluigi Chioldo,” said a thrilled Prevosti, who also placed on his second mount in the Open finals. “Chioldo moved to the south of Italy and his owner, Francesca Bertazzi, did not want to be so far away from her horse so – along with Chioldo – they thought he would be a good match for me. He is a very charismatic and talented horse who was nominated and bred by his owner, who is also the owner of his dam.”

Open to 4-year-old horses nominated in the NRHA Nomination Program, the European Futurity is run in a qualifying go round and clean slate finals. The tenth edition of the NRHA European Futurity will continue with the Non-Pro qualifier on Tuesday, April 10, and will be followed by the Open Consolation.

Level 3 Open

Leading the Level 3 division with a 220 score were NRHA Professionals Stephan Rohde of Germany and Lukas Czechowicz of Poland.

Rohde rode Michaela Maltz Szrama’s Glamshot, a stallion by I Am Shotgunner out of Boomernics Command (by Boomernic), nominated by Sabrina Bojes. Czechowicz was seen riding CSG Piggiemove, a stallion by Colonels Shining Gun (out of Roosters Hot Piq, by Gallo Del Cielo) that is owned, bred and nominated by Katarzyna Roleska.

Level 2 Open

With a 216.5 score, two horsewomen tied to lead the Level 2 Open division: NRHA Professional Mona Dorr riding G Whiz Gus (Inwhizable x Peppiment Patti x Dunnit In Hollywood), a gelding owned by Martin Bachmann and nominated by Heike Melanie Ebler, and NRHA Professional Petra Van Ede riding Cee U In Tinseltown (Hollywoodtinseltown x Miss Wimpy Hollywood x Wimpys Little Step), a mare owned, bred and nominated by Gisela Haas. Van Ede and Cee U In Tinseltown also lead the Level 1 Open division.
