OKRHA Ride & Slide Adds a Little Tinsel to its Hollywood

After a successful reining career in which Hollywoodstinseltown (Hollywood Dun It x Miss Tinseltown x Great Red Pine) earned $178,156 in the show pen – including the 2009 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Derby and National Reining Breeders Classic (NRBC) Level 3 Open championships and a gold medal from the 2010 World Equestrian Games Reining team competition – the 2004 stallion has made a second career in the breeding shed. As of 2018, he has produced offspring with more than $1.5 million in earnings, according to Equi-Stat. While his top five get have more than $50,000 in earnings, two others won top honors at the Oklahoma Reining Horse Association (OKRHA) Ride & Slide.

In sixth place on Hollywoodstinseltown’s record with total lifetime earnings of more than $47,000, Shining In Town (Hollywoodstinseltown x Shine Ann x Shining Spark) won the Level 4 Open. $10,165 of that came from the Ride & Slide, where Jason Vanlandingham rode Sather Family Partnership’s 5-year-old stallion to a victorious 227.5.

Tunes In Hollywood (out of Shiney Tari x Shining Spark), owned by Maria Buey Arietti, tied for the Level 3 Open Championship alongside Xtra Goodstep with a 225. With Rocky Dare in the saddle, the pair came home with a check of $4,188, which brought Tunes In Hollywood’s lifetime earnings to $23,601.

Hollywoodstinseltown’s highest-earning offspring is 2010 stallion Tinseltown Fly Guy (out of Fly Flashy Jac x Boggies Flashy Jac), with lifetime earnings of $264,139. Shawn Flarida rode Tinseltown Fly Guy, owned by Patricia Holtzman, to wins at the 2016 Florida Reining Classic and All American Quarter Horse Congress (AAQHC) Futurity, among others, and they were the 2013 NRHA Futurity Level 4 Open Reserve Champions.

Nearly $200,000 separates Hollywoodstinseltown’s No. 1 and No. 2 offspring, Smokinghot Hollywood (out of Smoking Rose x Colonels Smoking Gun [Gunner]). The 2012 stallion owned by Gaynell and Lawrence Simpson boasts $87,108 lifetime earnings. Jason Vanlandingham rode Smokinghot Hollywood to a win at the 2016 OKRHA Ride & Slide as well as a top ten placing at the 2016 NRHA Derby, Tulsa Reining Classic and the High Roller Reining Classic Derby. They were seventh at the 2015 NRHA Futurity.

No. 3 on Hollywoodstinseltown’s record is Tinseltown Flash (out of Billie Gun Flash x Gunner) with lifetime earnings of $83,176. Tinseltown Flash is owned by Ruoff Dietter Reining Horses and was predominately ridden by Robin Schoeller to victories at the 2018 Florida Reining Classic and the 2015 AAQHC Futurity.

The future is looking promising for Hollywoodstinseltown’s continuing career as a reining sire as his offspring continue to add to his record in 2018.
