Perrin Remembered For Support of Family, Cutting

Family and friends are mourning the loss of a Texas woman who was a great supporter of the sport of cutting.

Martha Perkins Waldron Perrin, 63, died unexpectedly on Feb. 25.

Although she didn’t compete in the show pen herself, Perrin regularly accompanied her daughter, Harrison Perrin, to cuttings across the country. In recent years, Harrison competed with Sandman Cat (Metallic Cat x Rio Bud x King Of Clarks) at shows that included the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Super Stakes, NCHA Summer Spectacular, Breeder’s Invitational and West Texas Futurity.

Martha’s family said mother and daughter’s travels weren’t just about chasing cows: Martha could not have been prouder of the beautiful young woman that Harrison has become. They say she took her greatest delight in sharing Harrison’s milestones and achievements along the way.

For the past several years, Martha split her time between Houston and Brenham, where she helped oversee the family’s Quarter Horse broodmare and training operations.

She is survived by her husband, Harry; her daughter, Harrison; her sister, Nancy Wallace Waldron, and her son, Sterling West Waldron; stepchildren Matt Kenny and Paige Perrin; David Perrin, and Drew and Kristen Perrin and their daughter, Eloise.

A memorial service was set for Wednesday, March 8, at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church in Houston.
