Silver Spurs, McCutcheon New NRHA Million Dollar Owners

An Arizona-based breeder and Texas trainer passed the NRHA Million Dollar Owner mark at the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Futurity in Oklahoma City.

The NRHA reported that Equi-Stat Elite $1 Million Rider Tom McCutcheon, of Aubrey, Texas, and Silver Spurs Equine, of Cave Creek, Arizona, entered into that elite territory during the event, held Nov. 23 to Dec. 2 at the Oklahoma State Fair Park.

Silver Spurs Equine entered the Level 4 Open finals with $944,532 in owner earnings. Their record reached $1,022,713 with the help of two horses by their stallion, Wimpys Little Step – Xtra Dun Step ($69,876) and Xtra Gotta Step ($8,304).

“We knew we were getting close. I didn’t think we were that close, but Trevor [Dare’s] fabulous run on our horse [Xtra Dun Step] – I think he won $69,000 or something like that – put us over the top,” said Silver Spurs Equine owner Michael Miola.

Reaching NRHA Million Dollar Owner status was only part of Silver Spurs Equine’s big night at the NRHA Futurity Open finals, as the ranch is also partners on Pale Face Dunnit, the sire of 2017 NRHA Futurity Level 4 Open Champion Face The Attitude (out of Miss Lil Addy Tude x Whizard Jac).
