Royal High Brow was bred by Cannon Quarter Horses. The sorrel filly was consigned by Barney Mac Smith as Hip No. 2054 and was purchased by Center Ranch for $170,000. Royal High Brow, who was in training with Turner West at the time of the sale, is by the NCHA All-Time Leading Sire High Brow Cat and out of the Dual Rey mare, Tootsie Rey.

Tootsie Rey is the dam of seven offspring of performance age, according to the sale catalogue, and she boasts get earnings of more than $100,000. Her leading money earner is Chrome Catillac (by Metallic Cat, $78,251).

Sorrel fillies proved to be the favorites in Session II when the second and third-highest sellers also matched that description. When Absolutely Tuff sold for $111,000 to Circle Y Ranch for consigner JLC Performance Horses, she brought the sale’s second-highest bid.
