The Pro-Rodeo Hall of Fame – Museum of the American Cowboy, American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum, and National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame are just a few of the famous museums that are synonymous with the equine industry, and the reined cow horse industry is adding its name to that list.
The Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity and the National Reined Cow Horse Foundation (NRCHF) are in negotiations with the Reno Livestock Event Center in Reno, Nevada, to establish a permanent museum that will educate visitors about the reined cow horse heritage and industry, and honor the National Reined Cow Horse Association’s (NRCHA) Hall of Fame inductees.
“The National Reined Cow Horse Foundation was established to promote the reined cow horse heritage and industry, and the Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity was established to keep the tradition of the California Spanish vaqueros and the roots of the reined cow horse sport tied to the West Coast,” explained Ted Robinson, chairman of the NRCHF and one of the founders of the Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity. “With over four decades of reined cow horse competition history in Reno, partnering with the Reno Livestock Event Center to create a permanent museum in Reno that will promote the reined cow horse industry and share its history is a perfect fit.”
Museum exhibits will feature historical photos, tack, trophies and videos of inducted Hall of Fame horses that have proven to be extraordinary in the reined cow horse competition over the years, and inducted people who have been recognized for their years of commitment to the industry and preserving the heritage of the reined cow horse sport.
