Two of a Kind for Amy Stoney at AQHA World Show

It’s hard enough to claim a World Championship at the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA)/Lucas Oil World Championship Show, given the volume of tough competitors to perform in Oklahoma City. But attempting to clinch the same title two consecutive years is an even more daunting task.

Amy Stoney and Skeets Whizard did just that when they put together a 219 to pick up their second Amateur Reining World Championship in a row. The 8-year-old gelding (Skeets Peppy x Whiz And Smoke x Whizard Jac) had garnered $57,966 in the show pen before the AQHA World Show. He was first shown by Cody Stark and Timothy Long until Stoney took over the ride in 2013.

In 2015, Stoney and Skeets Whizard made the Derby Levels 4, 3 and 2 finals at the National Reining Horse Association Derby, and last year, they also began showing in the ancillary classes.

The gelding is owned by Connie Stoney, and he was bred by Long.

Stephanie Diane Nelson and Custom Banjo (Banjo Whiz x Custom Bobbie x Custom Crome) marked a 218 to claim the Amateur Reining Reserve World Championship.
