NCHA Stresses Ban On Showing Futurity Entrants

Entrants in the 2017 National Cutting Horse Association [NCHA] Futurity cannot be shown in any other event involving cattle from the time of nomination through the end of the Futurity, including non-Futurity events held during the prestigious show in Fort Worth, Texas, the association announced Thursday.

Citing Futurity Rule 1.A.7, the association said it issued the clarification due to the early start of this year’s Futurity, which runs Nov. 15-Dec. 10 in the Will Rogers Coliseum.

This rule prohibits showing horses in non-approved or approved events held by individuals or other organizations prior to and including the last day of the Futurity. Any horse shown in violation of the rule will be disqualified from the Futurity and forfeit all Futurity earnings, the NCHA said in a statement.

Substituted horses or late entries to the 2017 Futurity cannot have been shown after Sept. 15, 2016. Entrants also cannot be worked on cattle in the Will Rogers Coliseum prior to the Futurity.
