Ty Moore’s Futurity Non-Pro Success Continues at Cotton Stakes

Classic Non-Pro

Ty Moore wasn’t the only one who repeated success from the West Texas Futurity at the Cotton Stakes. Gary Barker, another resident of Madill, completed the same double when he and Smooth Nu Cat earned the Cotton Stakes Classic Non-Pro Championship with a 220.5.

Barker and the 2012 gelding (Smooth As A Cat x Special Nu Baby x Dual Rey) had previously won the West Texas Futurity Classic Amateur Co-Championship in Amarillo. Bred by Barker and his wife, Shannon, Smooth Nu Cat now has earnings of more than $100,000 thanks to the $8,000 champion’s check.

Kyle Manion, of Aubrey, Texas, tied himself for the Classic Reserve Championship. He marked 219s aboard A Smooth Satin Doll and Miss Meow, who earned $6,250 each.
