An East Texas horse auction is changing hands.
Premier Equine Auctions, of Lufkin, Texas, will now be operated by new owner Clay Wing, of Dublin, Texas. Wing, one of the founders of the annual High Plains Ranchers and Breeders Association Sale in Amarillo, Texas, bought the auction from former owner Mike Pedersen.
Wing planned to continue offering quality ranch horses and team roping horses . He also planned to maintain the jackpot team ropings and other events Pedersen used to showcase sale horses, while also looking to add more events to the repertoire.
“Down here, there’s so many team ropers and ranchers around that I think we want to stick with that and incorporate a few more events for them [to] showcase those horses better and just be able to offer the very best around,” Wing said.
His plan to do so involves a focus on fairness, customer service and advertising.
“We’re going to try to grow it as big as we can,” he said.
