Katie Fonsen Young scored a triple play in the El Rancho Futurity Non-Pro, winning the Championship aboard a gelding she also owned and bred.
The Cloverdale, California, rider and Travalen Miles (Cats Full Moon x Travalen Tessie x Travalena) earned a composite score of 440 (218/222). The Reserve Championship went to Tracey Woodward and Dazzle, who had a composite of 434.5 (215.5/219).
Woodward and Dazzle also won the Futurity Unlimited Amateur. The two classes added up to $7,212 in winnings for Woodward and co-owner Donald Woodward, of Los Alamos, California.
The Futurity Unlimited Amateur Reserve Championship went to Michelle Barnes and Keefer, a 2014 gelding by Cats Merada out of Keechi Pep (by Playgun). They garnered a composite score of 428 (216/212) and earned $1,808 paycheck for Barnes and Barry Barnes, of Clarkston, Washington.
Futurity Amateur
Good Lookin Metallic picked up his second check of the weekend when he and owner Robert Thigpen won the El Rancho Futurity Amateur Championship with a 211.
Thigpen, of Chilton, Texas, and the Metallic Cat gelding won $2,851 for the Amateur Championship. Good Lookin Metallic had also earned the El Rancho Futurity Open Reserve Championship with Equi-Stat Elite $2 Million Rider Grant Setnicka aboard.
Bred in Texas by Tom Lyons, Inc, Good Lookin Metallic is out of SDP The Right Look (by Lots of Acres).
The Futurity Amateur Reserve Championship went to Katrina Hansen Lane and Full Freckled Moon (Cats Full Moon x Senoritas Bunny x Senoritas Playboy). They marked a 206 and earned $1,925.
