The National Western Stock Show (NWSS) is excited to host the $20,000 RAM Invitational Freestyle Reining, to be held at the National Western Events Center. The National Western Events Center prides itself on being the world’s premier center for America’s western heritage.
Riders for the $20,000 RAM Invitational Freestyle Reining will be invited based on a variety of criteria with the intention of upholding and aligning with the quality, competition and entertainment of the event and National Western. The RAM Invitational Freestyle Reining will consist of 14 riders competing for $20,000.
Top professionals within the reining industry will be sought each year to offer their selection advice. To be considered, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org stating your interest in the 2018 RAM Invitational Freestyle Reining by Sept. 30. If you have not competed in the RAM Invitational Freestyle Reining in 2016 or 2017, it is recommended you also send a link or file of a freestyle reining run that shows your potential and experience in freestyle reining. If you have not competed in freestyle reining in the past, please include a brief description of your potential routine including music and costuming. The selections will be based on quality, talent, creativity and entertainment. The winner of the previous year’s RAM Invitational Freestyle Reining will receive an invitation for the current year’s event. Initial invitations will be extended in November.
Bub Poplin, of Fruita, Colorado, made history in 2017 when he earned back-to-back wins in the $20,000 RAM Invitational Freestyle Reining on Smokin Custom Crome (Custom Crome x Glendas A Smokingun x Colonels Smoking Gun [Gunner]). He also took home People’s Choice honors. The 2017 event included bridleless routines, coconut bras, zebras, Donald Trump and more!
Grounds admission and event tickets for the 2018 NWSS will be available at nationalwestern.com and all King Soopers locations in the fall.
