The National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) recently welcomed a new chief financial officer (CFO). Barb Benedum assumed the new position May 15.

“I am excited to join the NCHA team and be a part of one of the finest equine associations in the country,” Benedum said. “I plan to use my education and experience, combined with my passion for the equine industry, to further the NCHA mission and goals.”

Benedum joins the NCHA with extensive experience in finance and accounting. For the last seven years, she was the treasurer for the Ohio Quarter Horse Association (OQHA), home of the All American Quarter Horse Congress. In her role with the OQHA, she worked with a team that facilitated some of the largest horse shows in the country.

Benedum also worked with committees to organize and implement long-term strategic plans, including the development of the Ohio Quarter Horse Foundation. It is through this experience that she hopes to continue to grow the NCHA’s long-term goals and manage the association’s financial obligations.
