June Bug Dually put her name on the map in 2007 at the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity. A decade later, on May 21, she was laid to rest after sustaining injuries in a pasture accident.

“Her hind leg shattered when another horse kicked her from the side while playing in the pasture,” said Jeff Neidhart, of Farmington, New Mexico, who owned the 2004 Bar H Ranche-bred mare at the time of her death.

June Bug Dually (Dual Pep x Junes Little Money x Smart Little Lena) made her show pen debut with Darren Simpkins at the 2007 NCHA Futurity, where she marked a final round 222 and tied for third to bank a $160,229 paycheck for Jeff and Margaret McCoy.

Under the saddle of Equi-Stat Elite $6 Million Rider Paul Hansma, the mare went on to garner $50,375 as a 4-year-old in 2008, with top 10 finishes at the NCHA Super Stakes and Southern Cutting Futurity.

In 2010, June Bug Dually was shown primarily by Margaret McCoy in $50,000 Amateur any-age classes. Along with the help of Little Lol Lena, Our Little Dyno and Hairy Trotter, McCoy finished the season sixth in the World. That year, June Bug Dually amassed $12,292.

The final show recorded on June Bug Dually’s record is a 2011 PK Cutters event, where a second place in the $15,000 Novice Non-Pro pushed the mare’s lifetime earnings to $225,624 in Equi-Stat. That same year, she produced the One Time Pepto mare One Time In June.

In 2014, the McCoys consigned June Bug Dually to the NCHA Futurity Preferred Breeders Sale. Neidhart bought the mare, who sold with two breedings to One Time Pepto, for $58,000.

One Time In June, owned by Ten/27 Ranch and bred by the McCoys, boasts more than $60,000 on her Equi-Stat record, including a trip to the 2015 NCHA Super Stakes Open finals and a Reserve Championship in the $10,000 Novice Open. She is the leading money-earner out of the five offspring listed on June Bug Dually’s Equi-Stat dam record, which totals nearly $80,000.
