Aristo Katz (Smart Aristocrat x Katz x High Brow Cat), a 2000 mare bred and owned by Jack Waggoner and Susan Ferguson, of Bridgeport, Texas, is the Breeder’s Invitational’s (BI) leading money-earning open horse with BI earnings totaling $136,775.

Clint Allen rode Aristo Katz, who has an Equi-Stat record of $270,162, to the 2004 BI 4-Year-Old Open Championship and $111,689 paycheck. In 2005, the pair added a $10,455 BI check for placing third in the 5/6-Year-Old finals and, in 2006, they finished second in the 5/6-Year-Old finals and earned $14,631.

Cox’s leading BI money-earner is Lil Catbaloo (High Brow Cat x Sweet Lil Boo x Peptoboonsmal), a 2009 stallion bred by John Harrah, of Reno, Nevada, and owned by Michelle and Gene Morris, of Florence, Montana, who has BI earnings of $90,396. The stallion and Cox won the 4-Year-Old Open in 2013.

Cox has ridden 40 horses to the BI pay window. In addition to Lil Catbaloo, his other top money-earners are Smooth Talkin Style (Smooth As A Cat x Stylish Play Lena x Docs Stylish Oak), a 2011 stallion Cox rode to win the 2015 BI Open and $78,610, and Hottish (Spots Hot x Stylish Play Lena x Docs Stylish Oak), a 2008 stallion Cox rode to win the 2012 BI Open and a $69,814 paycheck.

The 2008 gelding, bred by Niangua River Ranch of Missouri LP, of Eldridge, Missouri, was ridden by then-owner Chad Bushaw to win the 2012 BI 4-Year-Old Non-Pro and Gelding championships, taking away more than $49,000 from the show. They returned in 2013 to claim a fourth-place check in the 5/6-Year-Old Non-Pro. Bet On A Cat’s Equi-Stat record totals $375,398.
