Final Champions Crowned at The Ike

5/6-Year-Old Amateur

Joel Colgrove Sr. had a successful time in Louisiana. After picking up the 4-Year-Old Amateur Championship with Tank Tallic, he returned to win the 5/6-Year-Old Amateur Championship aboard WSR Dunnit With Jose. The duo marked a 221 in the finals to take home a check for $1,608.

Including his win in the 4-Year-Old Amateur, Colgrove, of Boligee, Alabama, has accumulated more than $70,000 in the cutting pen. WSR Dunnit With Jose pushed his Equi-Stat record to more than $28,000.

Before being purchased by Colgrove, the mare (Pale Face Jose x MH The Winning Move x Movin On Hickory) won the 4-Year-Old Non-Pro Championship at the 2016 Abilene Spectacular with then-owner Austin Adams. They also made the 4-Year-Old Non-Pro finals at the Bonanza. Colgrove’s granddaughter, Blakley, showed WSR Dunnit With Jose to finals appearances at the 2016 Breeder’s Invitational and Cotton Stakes Classic in the Derby Non-Pro.

Don McGraw and Pattys Metallic (Metallic Cat x Patty La Dual x Dual Pep) earned a score of 213 in the finals, which was worth the Reserve title and a $1,367 payday.
