PitchforksBet013 TAdolf 16HHPitchforks Bet 013 & Todd AdolfThe National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity has been underway for about two weeks now, and the first final – the Limited Open – took place on Nov. 30. Out of 21 horse-and-rider combinations, Todd Adolf and Pitchforks Bet 013 came out victorious.

Adolf, of Morristown, Arizona, and Pitchforks Bet 013 (Bet Hesa Cat x Pitchforks Lena x Shorty Lena) marked at 216 in the first go-round and returned in the second go to mark another 216, missing the Open semifinals bubble by just .5 point. They were the fourth draw in the second set of the Limited Open finals, and needed a 219.5 or better to top Dualin Cats and Robbie Boyce’s 219 that they had marked from the first draw in the first set.

As the duo left the working area, a 219.5 appeared on the scoreboard and the next eight horses were unable to beat it. Adolf, who owns Pitchforks Bet 013 with his wife, Kim, took home a check for $21,635. This win brings his Equi-Stat record to more than $560,000. Kim also showed the stallion in the Non-Pro and marked a 206 in the first go-round and a 217 in the second go.

Pitchforks Bet 013 is the ninth money-earner out of Pitchforks Lena, who earned $76,615 in her own career and has produced performers with records totaling more than $100,000.

“With every run that we had, you learn a little bit more about him,” Todd said after his winning run. “It was amazing because after that first cow, he felt so good. It’s such a blessing to be here.”

“We’ve had him since he was a yearling, so it’s pretty special,” Kim added.

Dualin Cats (Metallic Cat x Lethal Dually x Dual Pep) and Robbie Boyce settled for the Reserve title. They took home a check for $18,029.
