Jody McGlothlin Throws Down in NCHA Futurity Limited Non-Pro

JodyMcGlothlin webJodyMcGlothlin & SomethingtobelieveinThe National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity is a marathon in itself, and the day of the Limited Non-Pro finals was no different. With the semifinals falling the morning of the finals, riders had to carefully plan a strategy to advance while still preserving the energy to top the division.

Jody McGlothlin, of Perrin, Texas, seemed to have the right idea when she piloted her mare Somethingtobelievein to a solid 217.5 in the semifinals to match the highest score of the round. McGlothlin didn’t miss a beat when she topped that score in the second set of the finals with a blazing 222.

The impressive score topped the finals by 3 points, and the Championship brought McGlothlin and her SDP Buffalo Ranch-bred mare (Hydrive Cat x Playin T Etta x TR Dual Rey) a paycheck of $12,038.

“The mare is unbelievably smart about a cow,” McGlothlin said following her win. “I knew how nice my horse was. I just wanted to make sure I got her shown to do her some justice.”

As the first draw of the finals, Peter Ryan, of Moura, Queensland, and Drip Drop Of Reyn (Dual Smart Rey x Cats Freckles Oak x Smooth As A Cat) marked a 219 and settled for the Reserve Championship, worth $10,836.
