Desires Smart Lena Tops Preferred Breeders Sale Session II

DesiresSmartLenaDesires Smart Lena was the highest seller at $93,000.The Preferred Breeders Sale Session II, held in Fort Worth, Texas, on Dec. 8, listed 179 weanlings, yearlings and broodmares in the sale catalog. By the end of the sale, two half-siblings brought the highest bids, with Hip No. 4014, Desires Smart Lena leading the way at $93,000.

Consigned by Old Tascosa, Desires Smart Lena sold in foal to Dual Rey. The 2002 mare, who is by Equi-Stat Elite $42 Million Sire Smart Little Lena, has produced offspring that have won more than $320,000. They include Desires Blue Trinity (by Mecom Blue), an earner of $193,904 who made the Open finals at the 2010 National Cutting Horse Association Futurity.

DesiresHighFiveThe second-highest seller, Desires High Five, brought a bid of $85,000.The gavel fell at $85,000 for the No. 2 highest seller, Hip No. 4004. Desires High Five, a 2015 High Brow Cat stallion, was consigned by Rockin 5 Ranch LLC.

Both Desires Smart Lena and Desires High Five are out of the Freckles Playboy mare Desire Some Freckles, the dam of 24 performing offspring with earnings of more than $1.2 million. Desires Smart Lena is a full sister to Desires Little Rex ($287,519), while Desires High Five is a full brother to Thundercat ($307,654), Desires Katrina ($135,273) and Desires Kitty Cat ($118,301).

SpotsSuperHotThe hammer fell at $70,000 for Spots Super Hot, the third-highest seller.Another yearling rounded out the top three sellers. Hip No. 4019, Spots Super Hot, brought $70,000. By Equi-Stat Elite $3 Million Sire Spots Hot, who will sell in the Preferred Breeders Sale Session III on Dec. 9, the mare is out of Highbrow Supercat (by High Brow Cat), an Equi-Stat Elite $1 Million Dam with 15 money-earning offspring. Spots Super Hot was consigned by Pro Fit Equine, Agent for Cross Timbers Cutting Horses LLC.

Spots Super Hot is a half-sister to Lil Rattler (by Dual Rey, $328,368), Button Down Supercat (by Dual Rey, $225,287), Cinca De Maya (by Dual Rey, $107,590), and others.
