Bobs Smart Badger Wins Second Futurity Open Title

BobsSmartBadger RWestfall 102016HHRuss Westfall & Bobs Smart BadgerAfter their exciting victory in the El Rancho Futurity Open, Bobs Smart Badger and Russ Westfall clinched the Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association (PCCHA)/Holy Cow Performance Horses Futurity Open Championship in Las Vegas.

The duo went to work in the beginning of the second set and marked a 225 to take home the Champion’s check for $26,000. Bobs Smart Badger (Reys Dual Badger x Bobs Smart Chance x Bob Acre Doc), who was bred by Slate River Ranch and is owned by George and Charlene Lane of Lancaster, California, also won the Gelding Championship and added an additional $2,940 to his record. So far, he has garnered more than $43,000 in the show pen.

“My little horse felt really good,” Westfall said after his winning run. “He was sharp and felt like he had a hold of the cow.”

Beau Galyean piloted Jeff Neidhart’s Bet Yer Metallic (Metallic Cat x Bet Yer Boons x Peptoboonsmal) to a score of 219.5 and the Reserve Championship, which was worth $23,000.
