The action is ramping up at the El Rancho Futurity and Foothill Fiesta in Rancho Murieta, California, and the first finals of the event were held last night. Equi-Stat Elite $2 Million Rider Morgan Cromer and Dis Cats Dynamite followed up their win at the Idaho Cutting Horse Association Futurity with another Championship in the Derby Open after marking a 225.
The duo brought home a $9,000 check for owners Terry and Britt Ratto, of Morgan Hill, California. This payday brings Dis Cats Dynamite (WR This Cats Smart x Lil Smokin Dynamite x Dynamite Badger), who was bred by Benjamin Herman, of Scottsdale, Arizona, to an Equi-Stat record of nearly $48,000.
The mare’s other accomplishments include a third place finish in the Derby Open finals at the Breeder’s Invitational, and she is now the second-highest money-earner on her dam’s produce record of more than $150,000.
Coyote Rock Ranch’s Reysin Autumn (Dual Rey x Smooth Autumn Mate x Smooth As A Cat) and Andrew Coates marked a 222 for the Reserve Championship and $7,500.
Classic/Challenge Open
Reyzin The Cash and Equi-Stat Elite $3 Million Rider Gary Gonsalves have been on fire this year. At the Arbuckle Mountain Futurity, they picked up the 5/6-Year-Old Open Championship, and then went on to claim the Reserve title at The Cattlemen’s Derby and Classic. In July, they won the Classic/Challenge Open at the National Cutting Horse Association Summer Spectacular, and just more than a week ago, they clinched the Classic Open title in Idaho.
They added yet another win to their résumés when they marked a 230 in the Classic/Challenge Open finals at the El Rancho Futurity. The win was worth $9,000, which pushed the stallion’s (Dual Rey x Spookys Cash x Miss N Cash) Equi-Stat record to nearly $225,000. In 2016 alone, he and Gonsalves have won more than $100,000.
Reyzin The Cash, who was bred and owned by Iron Rose Ranch, of Carbondale, Colorado, is the highest money-earner out of Spookys Cash, who has a produce record of more than $500,000.
Morgan Cromer piloted Maid Of Metal (Metallic Cat x Pretty Smart Kitty x Smart Lil Ricochet) to a 227.5, which earned them the Reserve title and $7,500.
