Top-finishing Paint Horse exhibitors at the 2016 SWRHA Futurity will be awarded custom Gist Silversmiths trophy buckles in the following six classes: Futurity Open, Futurity Non-Pro, Open, Non-Pro, Rookie and Youth.

“We’re so pleased to welcome the American Paint Horse Association to the Southwest Futurity,” said Cheryl Magoteaux Cody, whose Pro Management, Inc. runs the event. “Thanks to APHA, some great Paint reining horses will get extra recognition and extra awards. We so appreciate being a part of this great program!”

The annual event is scheduled for Oct. 20-30 at Hardy Murphy Coliseum in Ardmore, Oklahoma. The SWRHA Futurity features more than $114,000 in added money in the futurity classes, as well as a brand new Rookie Challenge, sponsored by Lucas Oil and Protect the Harvest.

All Paints that compete at this year’s SWRHA Futurity are eligible to use the show as qualification for the 2017 APHA World Championship Show. In 2017, the World Show takes place Sept. 20-30.

This November, more than $40,000 is up for grabs in reining events alone at the 2016 APHA World Show, set for Nov. 212 in Fort Worth, Texas. That includes World championship classes for Open (Junior and Senior), Amateur and Novice Amateur, as well as added-money classes for 3-year-olds (Open and Non-Pro) and 4-, 5- and 6-year-old horses (Open and Non-Pro).

“I hope Paint Horses, owners and exhibitors join us in Fort Worth in November for even more great prizes, cash and recognition at the APHA World Show,” said APHA Director of Youth and Awards Christine Henry. “To get the whole scoop, visit apha.com/oawcs.”
