Triangle Sales Prepares for Full Fall Schedule

tri-horse-logoTriangle Horse Sales, part of AuctionWare, LLC, will feature a fall sale schedule full of quality and diversity. The upcoming sale schedule will begin with the Triangle Sales Barrel Classic, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, in Ardmore, Okla., held in collaboration with Future Fortunes stallion incentive group, and then will showcase a ranch horse dispersal for McPhail Ranch in Abilene, Texas, Oct. 9, the following weekend.

The schedule will continue with an extensive Fall Sale at the traditional Triangle Sales site in Shawnee, Okla., Oct. 27-29. This three-day event will incorporate various purchasing opportunities, including Floyd and Maryann Moore’s 6J Paint Horses Absolute Dispersal Sale and will also continue the successful versatility ranch horse competition and sale, and more.

The Triangle Sales Barrel Classic and Future Fortunes Select Sale will be held at the Hardy Murphy Coliseum in Ardmore, Oklahoma, beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1. Future Fortunes was established in 2004 and has grown to become one of the country’s most select groups of stallion owners within the barrel horse industry, united for the promotion of breeding and incentive opportunities. Its successful incentive program now has more than 15,000 horses currently enrolled and has offered payouts of more than $100,000 to Future Fortunes breeders this year.

The McPhail Ranch Dispersal will be held Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. in Abilene at the Taylor County Expo Center. Horses will be available for viewing Oct. 8. The sale will feature more than 250 horses, with more than 100 head under saddle including aged geldings, 3-, 4- and 5-year-old geldings; 2-year-old geldings and stallions, and 2- and 3-year-old mares.

Mike McPhail owns McPhail Ranch, which is based in Ranger, Texas, and initiated what is now an American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) Ranching Heritage Breeding program more than 25 years ago. Strong quality and current performance bloodlines have been the priority in McPhail’s breeding.

“There is no way I can describe to people how nice this group of ranch horses is,” said Jim Ware, owner of Triangle Sales. “Versatility horses are huge right now, and these horses are some of the best prospects I’ve ever seen. Mike’s ranch horses are the best-kept secret in Texas.

“Mike has maintained a focus for breeding to maintain solid colors, so the majority of the horses offered are buckskins and bays and really rich-colored horses,” Ware continued. “In regard to conformation and athleticism, they are a horseman’s horse. They have the withers, the backs, the balance – they are built and bred to get the job done.”

The 37th Annual Triangle Sales Fall Sale is scheduled for Oct. 27-29 in Shawnee. The sale will maintain a strong inclusion of multiple disciplines, ranging from black type pedigrees derived from cutting, cow horse and reining horse bloodlines in particular, to some tremendous ranch-bred, roping and barrel horses.

The Fall Sale schedule includes a $10,000-added versatility ranch competition beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27. This event has continued to gain in popularity as a means to showcase sale horses, as well as a draw for spectators.

The versatility competition will be followed by Floyd and Maryann Moore’s 6J Paint Horses Absolute Dispersal Sale. Based in Huntsville, Texas, the Moores have successfully raised versatile Paint performance horses for more than 20 years. The genesis of their involvement in the Paint horse industry began with the purchase of Delta (Lemon Squeezer x Mildred x Ed Echols) in 1985. The mare’s show career led her to become the first Paint horse to be inducted into the National Cutting Horse Association Hall of Fame.

The Delta line would help provide the foundation for this versatile family of competitors that have maintained a presence in cutting, reining, roping and barrel racing. Moore’s remuda reached close to 350 mares at one time, and this dispersal sale will bring a final chapter to his efforts for that breeding program. Both breeding and riding options will be available for sale. Every horse selling is microchip identifiable and has its original American Paint Horse Association papers.

The Triangle Fall Sale will continue Friday, Oct. 28 beginning at 9 a.m. with a black type catalog session, followed by a versatility ranch sale. Saturday, Oct. 29, will begin with roping and barrel demonstrations, and then a performance-based sale beginning at 9 a.m. This sale will include a special roping horse session as a feature for United States Team Roping Championship (USTRC) Finals’ spectators and competitors in nearby Oklahoma City that same week.
