Their 221 score earned the duo a check worth $3,977. The 2009 gelding (Smart Little Lena x Cassies Kit Cat x High Brow Cat), who was bred by Gilbert Cattle Co. LLC, of Coushatta, Louisiana, now boasts lifetime earnings in excess of $78,000. Fort Lupton, Colorado, resident Platt surpassed the million-dollar mark with his successes in Fort Worth, Texas, and he is continuing to add to his bankroll.

“He hasn’t been the easiest horse all along,” Platt said of Little Lenas Cat. “He’s just been kind of a hard-luck horse, but I’ve really had a breakthrough on him recently.”

Cullen Chartier and Scooter Mcgavin (Smart Lil Scoot x Natalie Rey x Dual Rey) and Mike Wood and This Cats Phat (WR This Cats Smart x CC Topsy x CD Olena) tied for the Reserve Championship. Both pairs had a score of 219 and earned paychecks worth $2,913.
