NCHA Super Stakes Non-Pro Co-Champions Crowned

Costa netoArmando Costa Neto & Watch Me WhipThe Lucas Oil National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Super Stakes Non-Pro was a marathon division, with four full days of qualifiers for the finals. It was clear that the horse and rider combinations vying for top honors in the 20-horse finals were fit for the challenge, and they certainly kept spectators on their toes.

In the first set, 2015 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Champions, Armando Costa Neto and Barrinha LLC’s Watch Me Whip (Playgun x Look The Look x High Brow Cat), marked a smoking 222 to take the early lead.

But it wasn’t over yet. From the second set, Nadine Payne and her own Velvets Revolver (This Cats Smart x Velvets Best Shot x Playgun) matched their score of 222, and the pairs shared Co-Champion honors, worth $33,664.

“I was really happy with my ride today,” Payne said of her performance on her gelding, bred by Michael Hancock, of Spotsylvania, Virginia.
