After several days of rough weather, cutters had clear and sunny skies to wrap up the first week of competition at The Four Sixes/National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Eastern National Championships in Jackson, Mississippi.
In the $2,000 Limit Rider, Danielle Bernard, of Weatherford, Texas, and Swing In Time (A Chic In Time x Squeaky Swing x Justa Swinging Peppy) marked a 217, which topped the division by 4 points.
The 13-year-old gelding who is owned by Alexis Stephas, of Chattanooga, Tennessee and was bred by Eddie and Barbara Young, of San Angelo, Texas, is a seasoned veteran in the cutting pen with more than $150,000 in lifetime earnings, but this was Bernard’s first big win.
“It feels really great to have a win like this,” Bernard said of her success that brought a $4,895 paycheck.
Rhein Standish piloted Divas On Time (One Time Pepto x Desires Cat x High Brow Cat) to a 213, for the Reserve Championship and a check of $3,988.
