Torrential downpours and flood warnings didn’t keep competitors from The Four Sixes/National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Eastern National Championships in Jackson, Mississippi. They brought the heat despite harsh weather conditions, and the show went on at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds.
In the Open, Playful Highbrow CD (High Brow CD x Playful Ricochet x Smart Lil Ricochet) and owner, Walt Erwin, of Cleveland, Georgia, marked a 222 in the first set of the two-set finals and topped the division by a mere 1 point.
Playful Highbrow CD and Erwin banked $2,881 for their success in the finals, which brought the 6-year-old gelding to an Equi-Stat record of $34,455.
“He is just a really sweet horse you can trust,” Erwin said of Playful Highbrow CD, who was bred by Jerome Bradford, of Hoschton, Georgia.
