APHA Returns to NRBC

gunner-dun-it-againPaint Horses, such as 2015 Derby Levels 3 & 2 Open Champion Gunner Dun It Again, are eligible for extra prizes at the NRBC again in 2016. • Waltenberry photoThe American Paint Horse Association (APHA) and the National Reining Breeders Classic (NRBC) are continuing their partnership for the third consecutive year. That means that exhibitors who have their horses’ APHA registration papers in order at the 2016 NRBA are eligible to win custom-made Gist trophy buckles.

“We are honored to welcome the American Paint Horse Association back to the NRBC,” said NRBC Secretary-Treasurer Cheryl Magoteaux Cody. “Because of the APHA, there are 14 more buckles up for grabs. The highest advancing APHA-registered horse in all four divisions of both the Open and Non-Pro Classic will receive buckles. Plus, buckles will also go to the highest scoring APHA-registered horse in the Classic Challenge Open and Non-Pro and the highest combined score in the Open, Non Pro, Rookie and Youth NRHA classes. It’s a tremendous opportunity for our exhibitors.”

According to Kalyn Sanders, director of business development for the APHA, the association considers the NRBC  one of its most valued event partners.

“The show provides the perfect platform for the APHA to further recognize and reward top-performing Paint Horses in an area in which they already compete,” Sanders said. “We are continually amazed by the number and quality of athletes that exhibit at the NRBC each year. It is a true pleasure to be able to participate in such an elite event.”

Paint entries at the NRBC are eligible for some important additional benefits, Sanders said. “If the exhibitor/owner still needs to register his or her horse with APHA, they can save $15 by doing so online. Also, no matter what the horse’s age, the owner will never pay more than $100 for the regular registry and $50 for solid paint-bred. Just visit the online registration page. Our friendly member care team is ready to help, should you have questions or need assistance with the process, by calling 817-222-6423 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. (CST).”

Owners who opt to submit registration paperwork by mail should be sure to write NRBC REINING on the front of the envelope to receive complimentary rush processing.

In addition to these awards, the APHA has designated the NRBCc as one of the approved shows for 2016 APHA World Show qualification.
