Richard Winters Headlines RFD-TV’s new January lineup

The schedule boasts a new cooking show from renowned wild-game chef and gardener Tim Farmer, fresh takes on horse training in a pair of new series hosted by Dennis Reis and Richard Winters, and a contemporary musical show hosted by accomplished singer/songwriter Joey Canyon.

“We’re continually working to freshen up our schedule with great content,” said Kelly Kantz, RFD-TV’s senior vice president of programming. “Rural Americans are loyal viewers of RFD-TV, and we’re confident they’ll love the new roster of 2016 shows as much as we do.” 

The new programs include:

Tim Farmer’s Country Kitchen
Premieres Jan. 4, 2016 (time slot Mondays at 3:30 ET).
Expert hunter and wild-game cook Tim Farmer delivers home-spun recipes from friends and family, along with tips from veteran gardeners and special guests who demonstrate the art of hunting, canning, cooking, smoking and more. Farmer has the use of only one arm due to a 1984 motorcycle accident, but he can shoot a 70-pound bow with his teeth and then pioneered the field-to-table movement. “A well-rounded sportsman should know how to prepare game after harvesting it,” Farmer said.

Dennis Reis Universal Horsemanship
Premieres Jan. 6, 2016 (time slot Wednesdays at 2 p.m. ET).
Reis, a veteran of age-old horse communication methods, guides viewers through a home study course of all four levels of his instructional series. Reis shares his beliefs about horses, such as the fact that the nature of the horse is universal, no matter the discipline or the breed, and a horse will always make his own decisions. Reis explains that his students “work with the horse’s nature instead of trying to control it, so they have willing, happy, and safe horses.”

Richard Winters Horsemanship
Premieres Jan. 6, 2016 (time slot Wednesdays at 3 p.m. ET).
Having earned several championships in colt-starting and showing horses over the years, Winters is a well-traveled trainer and clinician who will show viewers foundational principles of horsemanship, techniques of upper-level performance, and how “horsemanship is a life-long endeavor of love and passion for everything horses.”

Market Journal
Premieres Jan. 7, 2016 (time slot Thursdays at 5 p.m. ET).
Presented by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Market Journal aims to help agricultural producers improve their bottom lines and make their businesses more profitable. The show features expert interviews with university researchers and extension specialists, and provides livestock reports, market commentary and analysis, plus weather, climate and soil-moisture updates.

The Joey Canyon Show
Premieres Jan. 8, 2016 (time slot Fridays at 10 p.m. ET).
Accomplished singer and songwriter Joey Canyon brings viewers a contemporary version of today’s country-music variety show. The series will feature guest performances and interviews with artists such as Mark Wills, T.G. Sheppard, Moe Bandy, Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, as well as many others from the country music industry.
