2015 NCHA Futurity Sales Wrap Up

WBSaleZee Im Smooth sold for $225,000 in the Select Yearling Sale • Courtesy of Western BloodstockThe 2015 National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity Sales 1002-lotted catalog of horses was the sale’s largest since 2010. While the overall average of $21,260 was under 2014’s all-time record of $27,696, it was just shy of the 2013 NCHA Futurity Sales average of $21,323 and nearly $7,000 more per head than in 2010.

Sales highlights included four 2-year-old fillies: the Metallic Cat daughter Melting Snow, at $280,000, and three High Brow Cat daughters, HR Cats Meow, at $150,000; Desires Cat Dot Com, at $125,000; and RPL Cat N Around, at $122,000.

Apollo Creed, by Metallic Cat, brought $220,000, as the high-selling stallion from all sales, as well as the high-selling 2-year-old stallion. Consigned by Crown Ranch, he was purchased by Daniel Burkes, of Hibbing, Minnesota.

Two-year-old stallions Smart Dual Kat, by Dual Smart Rey, and Wats It To Ya, by Metallic Cat, each brought $110,000, as the second-highest selling stallions from all sales. Both horses were purchased by Richard Carney, of Kemp, Texas.

Zee Im Smooth, at $225,000, was the high-selling yearling and yearling filly. The Smooth As A Cat daughter was consigned by Tommy Manion and purchased by Terrie Brown, of Nocona, Texas.

Desires Kalupa, at $200,000, was the second-highest selling yearling filly and third-highest selling female from all sales. The Dual Rey daughter was consigned by H.B. Bartlett DVM and purchased by Rocking P Ranch, of Fort Worth, Texas.

Kual Gun, with an embryo by High Brow CD, was the NCHA Futurity Sales’ high selling broodmare at $110,000. The Playgun daughter was consigned by Kayla Norris and purchased by Michelle Cannon, Cannon Quarter Horses, of Waxahachie, Texas.

Six–year-old Reyhanna, with an embryo by Metallic Cat, sold for $95,000. The Dual Rey daughter, consigned by Kevin and Sydney Knight, was purchased by John Kennedy, of Sundance, Wyoming.
