The Abilene Spectacular is the first major cutting held each year. The 2016 show is set to begin Wednesday, Jan. 6, with the first go-rounds of the 4-Year-Old Open and 5/6-Year-Old Open divisions. The show concludes Wednesday, Jan. 13, with the 4-Year-Old and 5/6-Year-Old Non-Pro finals.

More than $13,911,000 has been distributed to money-earners during the past 20 years. The show, which recorded its largest payout of $882,052 in 2007, drew 531 contestants in 2015, who competed for $190,000 in added money and a $613,504 purse.
