The American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) held its first World Championship Show in 1974, and the Junior Reining World Champion was High Proof, by Joe Cody. In Like Flinn is the 2015 AQHA Junior Reining World Champion, and he also descends from the great Joe Cody, his great-grandsire.

In Like Flinn is owned by Todd Neiberger, of Argyle, Texas, and was bred by Buck Hazledine, of Wanette, Oklahoma. He was ridden to his World Championship by Casey Deary, of Weatherford, Texas. In Like Flinn has earnings of $112,336, according to Equi-Stat. In 2013, he was fourth in the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Futurity Level 4 Open and won the Heritage Reining Futurity Level 4 Open. He is by Topsail Whiz and out of Nestle Quik Chic, by Chocolate Chic Olena.

Sire Line:

Topsail Whiz earned $49,865 in reining and he was third in the 1990 NRHA Futurity Open. He is the Equi-Stat all-time leading sire of reining horses, with offspring earnings of more than $10 million. His leading winners would include The Great Whiz ($256,470), Easy Otie Whiz ($233,611) and Whizkey N Diamonds ($216,300).

Topsail Whiz is by Topsail Cody, the 1981 AQHA Junior Reining World Champion and the 1980 NRHA Futurity Open Champion. Topsail Cody is the sire of foals that have earned $1,239,870, including 1984 AQHA Junior Reining World Champion Okleos Sail Win. Topsail Cody is by Joe Cody and out of Doc Bar Linda, an AQHA Open and Youth champion daughter of Doc Bar.

The dam of Topsail Whiz is Jeanie Whiz Bar, a top show mare who earned the 1978 AQHA High Point Reining Mare title. She earned Superiors in both Open and Youth Reining. Her sire is Cee Red (Cee Bars x Miss Jo Holly x Hollywood Gold) and her dam is Jeanie Whiz, by Billy’s Whizzer (Billy Van x Dinky Dee x Billy The Kid M).

Dam Line:

As powerful as the top side of In Like Flinn’s pedigree is, the bottom is just as powerful. His dam is Nestle Quik Chic ($21,425), a winner of the Canadian Reining Breeders Classic. Her foals have earned $185,274. Her other performers include Hot Chic Whiz ($28,878), the 2012 Tulsa Reining Classic Levels 3 and 2 Open Champion, and Nestle Swhiz Chocolat ($25,965), the 2012 The Traditions Futurity Level 3 Non-Pro Champion. Both are sired by Topsail Whiz.

Nestle Quik Chic is by Chocolate Chic Olena (Smart Chic Olena x Jae Bar Felcia x Leo’s Question). Chocolate Chic Olena ($109,548) has an AQHA World Championship in Senior Reining, as well as a Reserve World Championship in Junior Reining. He was also the NRHA Derby Limited Open Champion and NRHA Derby Non-Pro Champion. Chocolate Chic Olena is the sire of horses with Equi-Stat records totaling $984,980. His leading money-earners include Chic Magnetic ($139,507), Ghirardelli Chic ($75,302) and Mr Chocoholic ($71,234).

The dam of Nestle Quik Chic is Miss Hello Hollywood, by Hollywood Jac 86 (Easter King x Miss Hollywood x Hollywood Gold). Ridden by Richard Greenberg, Hollywood Jac 86 was the 1974 and 1975 NRHA World Champion. Hollywood Jac 86 became the first NRHA Million Dollar Sire in 1993. He is the sire of Hollywood Dun It, who is now an NRHA Six Million Dollar Sire.

Miss Hello Hollywood earned three AQHA performance points. She is the producer of a number of money-earners who have accumulated Equi-Stat records of $132,241, including NRHA Two Million Dollar Sire Jacs Electric Spark ($86,907). His get include Electric Code ($214,322) and REF Black Mamba ($121,753). Miss Hello Hollywood is also the dam of Hello Starshine ($19,918), the 2003 Canadian Reining Breeders Classic Open Reserve Champion.

Miss Hello Hollywood is out of Miss Doll Pine ($8,961). Greenberg rode Miss Doll Pine to the 1978 NRHA Non-Pro World Championship, one of eight NRHA Non-Pro World championships he won. Miss Doll Pine is by Great Pine (Poco Bright Star x Crier’s Betty x Town Crier) and out of Jinx Lucy Star (Schenk’s Major x Dun Lou x Beaver Creek).

Miss Doll Pine is the dam of a number of performers including Jacs Little Pine ($35,915), Jacs Hollywood Doll ($10,594) and Crome Plated Jac ($12,226). Crome Plated Jac is the sire of 1993 NRHA Futurity Open Champion Custom Crome. Custom Crome is an Equi-Stat Elite $3 Million Sire with foals such as Custom Pistol ($254,858), Custom Legend ($228,287) and Cromed Out Mercedes ($146,645).

In Like Flinn comes from a long line of champions, as demonstrated by his sire line. A look at the rest of his pedigree shows that champions extend throughout on both sides, making him a well-bred World Champion. Most importantly, he is successfully carrying on the legacy of another World Champion, Joe Cody.
