The 27-year-old stallion has sired earners of more than $70 million in National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA), National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA), American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) and American Paint Horse Association (APHA) competition.

“We learned that High Brow Cat’s get had reached this pinnacle from Robin Glenn of Robin Glenn Pedigrees on Nov. 11,” said Darren Blanton, owner of the chestnut stallion and Colt Ventures in Dallas. “The best news, though, is at 27, ‘Cat’ is still going strong and is an incredible example of the stamina and intelligence he passes on to his sons and daughters.”

By High Brow Hickory and out of Smart Little Kitty, High Brow Cat boasts a pedigree that reads like a who’s who in the Western performance horse industry. His maternal grandsire is the legendary Smart Little Lena, who continues to appear as a leading cutting horse sire. Cat’s line also includes Doc’s Hickory, Doc Bar and Doc O’Lena.

“One thing I’ve always believed about Cat is that he is truly a magical genetic mix that only God himself could have created,” Blanton said. “It’s been a privilege to own him these last few years, and I’m excited about having my first set of 3-year-olds by him coming forward this next year.”

Blanton bought the 1988 stallion from Jack Waggoner in January 2013 for approximately $10 million, to include Waggoner’s Bridgeport, Texas, ranch and High Brow Cat’s clone, Copy Cat, who was born shortly after the purchase. Hanes Chatham and Stewart Sewell bred Cat as part of a package deal that included the colt’s mother, and the stallion’s get have continually dominated the cutting horse arena, making the stallion the all-time leading sire of cutting horses and the No. 1 sire among limited-age horses. He is also ranked among the top 10 cutting broodmare sires of all time, according to Equi-Stat.
