Fire Destroys Classic Ropes Production Facility

classic-ropes-fireFire fighters work at extinguishing a fire at the Classic Ropes production facility in Granbury, Texas. • Megan Parks PhotographyEqui-Brand, via its Classic Ropes Facebook page, verified late Monday morning that a fire had destroyed a production facility in Granbury, Texas.

“A fire broke out early Monday morning at our rope and saddle pad production facility in Granbury,” Classic Ropes stated in a Facebook post. “The building appears to be a total loss. The fire impacts Classic and Rattler Rope, Rattler Strings, and Classic Equine production operations. The last of the flames are still burning as we share this message.”

Units from several local fire stations, as well as Somervell and Parker counties, responded to the blaze. Highway 51, which runs from Granbury to Weatherford, Texas, was closed for a majority of the day. Hood County Fire Marshall Ray Wilson issued a suggestion to nearby residents to “shelter in place” as a precaution, due to the smoke and lack of wind.

“We are most thankful that no one was in the building at the time the fire started and there are no injuries to report,” Classic Ropes continued. “We are grateful for the Granbury fire department and the host of volunteers that have pitched in to help. We regret the loss and impact this will have on our customers. We are thankful for their loyal support and the outpouring sentiment we have already received. We will rebuild. We will start tomorrow.”
