The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department arrested six people on Tuesday, Oct. 13, after an investigation by the Animal Recovery Mission, an animal rights group, found that three Wellington-area farms were brutalizing animals, including illegally slaughtering horses.
According to the Palm Beach Post, roughly 750 animals, including goats, pigs, cattle and chickens, were seized during the raids. The six men arrested were granted bail by the morning of Thursday, Oct. 15. Florida’s horse protection law passed in 2010 makes it a third degree felony to kill, main or mutilate a horse.
