Peptos Stylish Foxy Carries Grant Setnicka to PCCHA Futurity Open Championship

GrantSetnicka 15KBPGrant SetnickaExcitement was in the air at the Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association (PCCHA)/Holy Cow Performance Horses Futurity on Monday, Oct. 26. It was the trainers’ day to show off their talented horses, and when it was all said and done, one rider walked away with championships in two limited age events, making his drive to Paso Robles, California, worth the trip.

Equi-Stat Elite $1 Million Rider Grant Setnicka, of Grandview, Texas, piloted Peptos Stylish Foxy to a 220.5, taking home the Futurity Open Championship and a paycheck worth $35,000 to owner Elizabeth Para, of Othello, Washington. The mare (Peptos Stylish Oak x Smart Quixote Nus x Smart Mate) was bred by Linda Helo. Including the $11,650 already on her Equi-Stat record, Peptos Stylish Foxy now boasts almost $50,000 in earnings.

Setnicka also went home with the Stakes Open Championship after riding HNS Sofia to a 218. The duo earned $17,465 for owner Lionel Salaverria, of Coral Springs, Florida. HNS Sofia, who was bred by Ken Jackson, is a daughter of Dual Rey and is the only money-earner out of the Peptoboonsmal mare All Boon, who sold at the 2006 National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity Sale for a record-breaking $750,000. HNS Sofia boasted $87,312 in lifetime earnings prior to the PCCHA Futurity and has breached the $100,000 mark. All of the money on her Equi-Stat record has been earned with Setnicka.

With his two new championships, Setnicka now boasts more than $1,500,000. He also made the Stakes Open finals with Hesa Belle Cat, placing 10th, and the Classic/Challenge Open finals with Mesacat, who landed in fifth place. Both of those placings added an additional $9,425 to Setnicka’s lifetime earnings.
