Lyle Proctor Tops Snaffle Bit Futurity Amateur

LProctor 12Lyle ProctorThe National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) Snaffle Bit Futurity, held Sept. 21-Oct. 3 in Reno, Nevada, has crowned its first champions and determined who will advance to the Non-Pro finals on Oct. 2. Lyle Proctor became the first of the winners this year when he piloted SJR All Time Cash to the Futurity Amateur Championship.

Proctor, of Ravensdale, Washington, rode SJR All Time Cash (by One Time Pepto) to a 636 composite score (211/216/209), earning $5,460. The duo’s score also secured them a spot in the clean-slate finals in the Non-Pro, Intermediate Non-Pro and Novice Non-Pro.

This is the first time SJR All Time Cash has posted a check to Equi-Stat. The 3-year-old mare is out of Shesa Lota Cash (Nu Cash x Snip Gay Bar x Gay Bar King), who earned nearly $60,000 in her career. SJR All Time Cash is the 10th money-earner out of the mare, bringing her offspring record close to the $150,000 mark prior to the Non-Pro finals. Her leading offspring is Hesa Lota Reminic (by Reminic), a 2000 stallion with $53,529 in earnings.

C.J. Murphy, of Granbury, Texas, rode his sister Nelle Murphy’s Stylish Bondgirl (Stylish Rey Gay x Shortys Geisha Girl x Kit Dual) to the Futurity Amateur Reserve title after amassing a 627.5 total on three (213/208.5/206). That performance was worth a $4,290 paycheck, along with a berth in all three divisions of the Non-Pro finals.

Non-Pro Limited

LaDona Emmons, of Ione, California, won the Futurity Non-Pro Limited aboard her gelding Stylish Ike (Playin Stylish x Miss Catty Cash x Nu Cash) after she earned a 639 (214.5/208.5/216). Emmons’ Championship check totaled $3,007.

Emmons, the wife of Equi-Stat Elite $1 Million Rider Ron Emmons, now boasts lifetime earnings of around $20,000. That total includes $2,243 from winning an NRCHA $5,000 Non-Pro Limited World Championship riding Anuther Mister 505 (Mister Dual Pep x Anuther Olena x Quanah O Lena) in 2013.

The Futurity Non-Pro Limited Reserve title went to Sallianne O’Neal, of Pilot Point, Texas, and Im Dualin Fine (Mister Nicadual x Footworks Yellow Jac x Footworks Finest). The duo earned $2,506 for finishing second with a 629.5 composite score (206/210.5/213).
