Only three Shiners Voodoo Dr yearlings were offered at 2013 sales, and Xtra Shiney Sinbar is the only one who sold. The other two were $5,000 pass outs at the Legacy Breeder’s Sale, held the evening before the Consignment Sale.

The next year, when Shiners Voodoo Dr’s first crop turned 2, he was represented by the highest-seller at the NRHA/Markel Insurance Futurity Prospect Sale when Xtra Voodoo Doc brought a final bid of $220,000. Shiners Voodoo Dr notched his first champion at the Tulsa Reining Classic, where Xtra Taris Voodoo and Thiago Boechat won the Darling 888 Ranch Developing Horse Futurity.

Asmussen purchased his other Turnabout Farm Futurity Non-Pro finalist from the NRHA/Markel Insurance Breeders Showcase Select Sale. Ida Be Smart (Smart Like Juice x Alrighta Ida x Top Dun Cody) was consigned by breeder Loren Booth and tagged by Asmussen for $8,500. Their score of 213 in Tulsa netted $649 to start the stallion’s Equi-Stat record.
