Cutting Returns To The Americana

Among the more than 40 classes, there were four new ones this year – Horse & Dog Trail, Ranch Riding and two cutting horse shows. The winner of the BIO S.I. World Cup Cutting Open final was Denis Pini aboard 7-year-old All About Pep (Sweet Lil Pepto x Miss Dual Pep x Dual Pep). They scored a 152 in front of 4,800 visitors at the Americana.

The flashy blue roan stallion, owned by Dirk Fransen, showed what cutting should be. Pini had already won the prestigious cutting in 2013 aboard Michal Popov’s Playlite (CD Lights x Playguns Satin Cat x Playgun), who finished third this year with a 148. The Reserve Championship was claimed by Martina Annovazzi, of Italy, aboard Shining Boonstar. The roan gelding, who is owned by Giancarlo Ruocco, scored a 150.

Bad luck befell three-time Americana Cutting Champion Gianluca Munarini, who led the go-round aboard Bearly A CD Light (CD Lights x Bearlyaboonsmal x Peptoboonsmal). The Congress Cutting Open Champion lost two cows, which resulted in a 120.

World Cup Cutting Non-Pro

Manfred Seif and CD Boss (CD Olena x Campana Boss x Spanish Boss) claimed the World Cup Cutting Non-Pro Championship with a 149. Robin Vijgen, aboard Fletchs Hot Shot, and Damiano Avigni, aboard Oneta Faye (Bobs Hickory Rio x Star Graduate x Lenas Star), tied for second at 147.

It was young Sasha Schwind from Germany and her Pistols Little Oak (Smart Little Pistol x Oak Ridge Gal x Doc’s Oak) who dominted both the Grass Roots Amateur All Ages and Youth at the Americana. Schwind, who trains with Ute Holm, and her 11-year-old grey mare continued their already great season with two first-class runs. They scored a 147 in the Amateur in a field of 17 and a 145 in the Youth.

In the Amateur, Italian Greta Salvatori and Spoonful Of Tears (Hes A Peptospoonful x Widows Tears x Widows Freckles) placed second with a 145. Robin Vijgen and Fletchs Hot Shot followed in third place with a 143.5. In the Youth, Martina Tresoldi and Primary Cat placed second with a score of 139. Salvatori and Spoonful Of Tears were third.
